Everything bright and beautiful.

OMG Merlin, episode 12! Now things are cookin'.

In other news, in tonight's episode of SGU (no spoilers) Colonel Young almost, sort of, smiled. My life is complete (or maybe Brad Wright is reading my LJ - I dunno)

Has anyone seen The Walking Dead? I suppose you have to be into zombies (isn't everyone?) but it's the most amazing show. So well done - I feel like I'm watching a movie.

So, the SyFy channel is not airing the final episodes of Caprica, and since I returned from Canada, I've not streamed them. Maybe I will.

Other than that, it's just really freaking cold - or at least the house I'm now living in is cold. It's over 100 years old and has single pane windows. There is no heating this place - but I am in the midst of installing thermal curtains. Maybe that will help. The furnace is sort of on the fritz, so I'm turning it off when I go to bed. So when I wake up in the morning it's like 48 in my room. Fahrenheit. Oh well.

I may be developing an obsession. Or wish I was a car - I don't know.

When mornings come to [fill in your town]

Morning Morgantown
Buy your dreams a dollar down
Morning any town you name
Morning's just the same

Mornings in Coquitlam have been boring, but nice. I'm still working remotely (earn the almighty dollar so mama can haz coffee) I get up, make coffee, and log on to the office VPN. Where I proceed to read email and notice that no one really cares if I'm working - mostly. Then a while later, I have more coffee and a scone.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to get paid, but it's just kind of fucking with my time in Canada. But I think living in the burbs is just making me lazy - so today maybe I'll knock off work early (my boss is traveling on business today anyway, and won't notice) and go downtown. It's kind of a schlep, and cloudy out, but I don't care.

Went to IKEA on Sunday - never again! I'll go again, just not on the weekend. It was just too crowded to enjoy my planned window shopping.

I didn't wind up doing NaNoWriMo because I just can't wrap my brain around writing right now - even though it's probably what I need most. But then I saw that geonncannon finished in 9 days - so maybe I'll still think about starting something. My friend is finishing a novel for her masters in creative writing by the end of the month, wouldn't it be funny if I wrote one too but her's took a year and a half and a bunch of tuition and mine only took 9 days. Haha!

Happy Morning, whatever town you are in!

NaNoWriMo?

I just realized that in addition to being Halloween, and moving again tomorrow - it's NaNoWriMo! I had thought about doing this - I totally blew it on Script Frenzy, but did at least wind up dusting off a screenplay even though I didn't really add to it :-(

But, I haven't even thought about an idea for a novel. If inspiration strikes in the next few days, maybe I'll sign up.

Been packing and cleaning all day, and getting ready to go out for some food and I would REALLY like a beer, I think.

It's a magical world

So, I can't believe it's almost November. I have no idea where the past few weeks went. First moving, then on the road to Seattle and Vancouver. Now I'm in a high rise condo overlooking Gastown and the streets are alive with loud fireworks and drunk, shouting, costumed people celebrating Halloween.

Tomorrow I move out out to Coquitlam temporarily. I'll probably go back to Denver in a couple of weeks. But serendipitous things have been happening - like I got an email about a marketing job in Kelowna, and told the recruiter to submit my resume. I don't know what I'm thinking - it pays about half what I am used to, but I guess I'd do anything to stay in Canada. I have an appointment to talk to an immigration expert even - I don't know if I'll get anywhere but hey, things just keep popping up out of the woodwork, so I'm just going with the flow to see where it takes me.

OK, going to go watch some Merlin now, because with all this noise I don't know how much sleep I'll be getting tonight. :-)

Officially moved to Denver!

OK, so that was hard. Beginning to unpack and finish cleaning - but then leave for Vancouver on Saturday so not much time! Did I say how tired I am? But I'll settle in soon enough, I'm sure.

My plans to stay in Vancouver for six weeks have been derailed a bit due to a mix up with the place I am staying. So if you hear of any one month (preferably furnished, and preferably downtown, Westend, Kits or Burnaby) rentals for the month - let me know!

I <3 the latest episode of Supernatural with Castiel. It's just not the same anymore when he's not on.

SGU - getting better.

I don't know if it was the fact that they ended the episode with one of my favorite Mumford and Sons songs, but the premiere of Stargate Universe touched me. Crossing my fingers that Mallozzi and Mullie keep it up (or maybe hire Jane Espenson or packmentality) In the meantime, crossing fingers that return of Caprica steps up the pace - a LOT.

Stargate not on Friday? WTF?

So, apparently Stargate Universe is premiering 9/28 in the U.S. But they changed it to Tuesday night. What am I going to watch for SciFi Fridays?

Another day, another panic attack

I have like 30 things to do to repair/renovate this house in Denver. And 4 weeks to do it in, if I want to go to Vancouver in October. I need a prescription of Lorazepam or something. Maybe I could get my sister in FL to send me some of her Xanax. I keep being on the fence about moving down there to more easily facilitate the work. My tenant is in the process of moving out. I'm going down there tomorrow to see how much of her stuff is actually gone. She's a single girl and has more stuff than you can imagine! She needs to go to the Peter Walsh school of how to unclutter your life.

British TV amazes me, in that they are experts in hooking us into characters right away. I watched the first ep of Skins Series 3 last night, and had been skeptical that it wouldn't live up to the original cast. Still don't know if it will, but I have to say the characters literally JUMP off the screen at you. In a few minutes you know exactly who they are. Is this because British TV is so much more realistic and raw than American TV? Our new shows generally have to be watched for a few episodes for us to even decide if we're going to like them.

I let my paid LJ subscription lapse, and now I'm missing my extra icons :-(
